I filed my federal taxes with payment due July 10th.  Can I just go ahead and pay the taxes now?  How?

    How do I cancel a direct debit with the IRS?
    Call IRS e-file Payment Services at 1-888-353-4537 to inquire about canceling your payment, but please wait for 7 to 10 days after your return was accepted before calling. Cancellation requests must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. ET two business days prior to the scheduled payment date.

    Then you can go on the IRS website, to pay by direct debit, credit card, or direct pay.

    @bshea1111

    First make sure your efiled return was accepted.  When you log in, the Tax Home should show you the status of your efile.

    So do you owe Federal tax due?    Did you provide direct debit information and scheduled a payment with the IRS?

    We can tell you methods to pay now, but need to know if you need to cancel a direct debit you've set up with the IRS.
