Filing taxes in different state

My wife is studying full in Arizona on F1 visa. I am working on H1b in California as a resident. 

I am looking to file federal tax together for the year 2022 in 2023.

Now coming to state taxes, should we file it together or separately.

If filing together, do we have to pay taxes in Arizona on my income as my wife is a resident of Arizona. 

I would like to understand the merits and demerits of filing state taxes together and separately.
