Filing "Single" or "Married Filing Separately"?

I live in WA state and filed a Certification of Dissolution of Marriage with the court in April 2020. My wife and I have been living separately since April 2020 and I have also been providing her spousal support. The divorce was formalized in early 2021. What should be my filing status for 2020? (Single or "Married Filing Separately")

Filing "Single" or "Married Filing Separately"?

If you were legally married as of Dec 31 2020 you can only file married (Jointly, separately, or Head of Household if you qualify).

Ask your attorney if the " Dissolution of Marriage" means that you are legally not married.   That is a legal question, not a tax question.
