In what year did the spouse die?
Surviving spouses with dependent children may be able to file as a Qualifying Widow(er) for two years after their spouse's death. This filing status allows them to use joint return tax rates and the highest standard deduction amount if they don't itemize deductions.
Here is the IRS reference link on the topic.My wife passed on Jan 10 2022.
Your filing status for 2022 will be married filing jointly.
When entering your wife's personal information in TurboTax, there will be a check box to mark that the spouse died in 2022, and you will be asked to enter the date.
You would continue to enter all the income, if she had any w2 or Social security income received.
