Filing Fees

As a long time user of Turbo Tax (20+ years) I have never had the surprise $60 fee for direct deposit or withdrawal. Also, the $25 fee for a 2nd state. I moved from Fl. to Mn. and was billed for a 2nd state  but you don't file in Fl. so why the charge?

If you somehow paid for a state e-file for FL then you need to talk to customer support.   There is never a fee for "direct deposit."   There is, however, a fee to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund if you do not pay your fees upfront using a credit or debit card.  That "refund processing fee" is $39.99 or in CA it is $44.99.   If you used the CD/download there is ALWAYS a fee to e-file a state return.  Your software included the program to prepare a state return but e-filing the state is an extra fee.  That state e-file fee can be avoided if you print and mail the state return.

No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue.  If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help.  Do not use the word “refund.”

Thanks so much for the reply. Some additional information: I have the Premier from Costco that actually has Costco mentioned in the packaging. There is NO mention of charges to file a state return after the Deluxe program. Finally, I only want my refund direct deposited with NO deductions from it so I don't know where the $60 fee could come from.

Sorry you're having problems with your fees.   This is mainly a user community forum.   No one can see anything account-specific here.  You need to speak to TurboTax Support and go over the bill with them as Champ @ xmasbaby0  mentioned above with the link she provided.

Premier includes one state program.   I don't know which one you chose as the first state (MN or FL).  But in any case,  you should be able to get a refund of whatever additional state program you purchased.  A second state program is $45, so I can't explain the $60 you are seeing.    A FL  return can be removed prior to filing if someone doesn't need it, and most don't.  

As you mentioned, Florida does not have a state income tax.   Only people who have Florida businesses or rental property with tangible personal property have to file a DR-405 with the county property appraiser by April 1.  But that's not a "state return" per se as in other states.   Here's more info if needed, but again this is only for filers who own FL businesses or rental property with tangible personal property.

In the desktop product there is a $25 fee to efile a state return.  There is no fee to print and mail a state return, and there is no efile fee for a New York state return.

There is no fee for direct deposit or direct debit.  That is a service provided by the IRS to all filers who choose it.

How did you pay your fees?   If you paid upfront with credit/debit card, there are no additional processing fees.  However, if you chose to pay any fees out of your Federal refund instead of paying upfront, there is a 39.99 service fee (44.99 for California filers.)

Again, in this user forum we don't know anything specific about your situation.   Talk to TurboTax Support about your fees, and they should hopefully be able to remove any charges you didn't need.
