Filing 2020 Tax Return

Hello,

I am filing my 2020 tax federal tax return late. I have the desktop program downloaded and completed my return information. However, when I attempt to E-file it tells me filing season is over. Am I doing something wrong or do old tax returns have to be mailed in?

Sorry yes you have to print and mail prior year returns from Turbo Tax.  Just ignore the efile error message.  At least you don't have to pay the $25 to efile a state return.

@seanebel but do note that the IRS processed tax returns in the order received, regardless of tax year.  Best to assume the return will take 6-9 months from the date it is mailed to be processed  Suggest bring to the post office and pay for the tracing so you are confident it was received.
