File joint or dependent

How can I know if I file joint or does my husband claim me as a dependent? I started a new business as a sole proprietor this year, but everything we've earned goes straight back into the business.

A married couple must file as married filing separately or married filing jointly and one spouse is never the dependent of another. The married filing joint status is almost always the best filing status.
