File amended return for documentation?

Made a numeric typo on a flied return.  IRS caught it and I received a bill.  I paid the bill in-full. Would like to file an amended returno documenting the correction and additional payment.  I know where to put the corrected typo, but where to put the additional payment & penalties + interests?

If the IRS corrected your return, do not amend your return. Just keep the letter from the IRS with your original return.

@CatinaT1 Thanks.  Your respons would certainly address my record keeping needs.  But wouldn't this approach  prevent future use of TT not getting correct TT25 data?

Always preserve in a safe place the taxfile you first SUBMITTED.

To bring your taxfile uptodate, enter the correction edit/update that results in the correct tax as adjusted by IRS.

Penalties and interest are to be ignored.

Unfortunately, TurboTax does not make that easy.
In most cases, this is not a needed step for filing next time.
