There is no such thing as filing quarterly tax returns. You file one tax return based on the calendar year. A tax return is prepared and filed from January to mid-April. You can, however, make quarterly estimated payments of your estimated tax for that year.

Estimated payments can be made by mailing a check or money order to the IRS with a 1040ES voucher form, or you can pay directly on the IRS web site.
