Federal Tax Issue

Hello, I spoke with the IRS regarding difficulties I've been having for the past two years in receiving my federal refund, although I haven't encountered any issues with my state taxes. The IRS provided me with an address and requested that I send my W2 and another document there. I'm unsure if the document they're asking for is Form 1040 or something else. What documents do I need to send?

You would need to contact the IRS again to find out exactly which documents they are requesting from you.  Your 1040 is the form that all of your income, deductions, credits, and dependents would be listed on.  If you have a very simple return with only W2 wages and no other documents that you enter into your return, then you these may be the only documents they are asking for, or they could be looking for 1099's, 1098's, a 1095-A or something else entirely.

There is not a standard answer to this question, so they would be the best ones to ask what they requested from you.
