federal income tax withheld for COVID19 distribution

Help! Am I not able to claim the federal tax withheld for my COVID19 distribution?  I did not see it in my 2020 and 2021 taxes.  I chose to spread out the tax for 3 years.

I think you mean you took an early distribution from your pension plan that qualified for refief under Covid regulations that allowed you to pay the tax on it over three years. Also, you had taxes withheld from the distribution so you need to know how to enter those taxes withheld on your tax return. If so, the withholding taxes would have been reported on your Form 1099-R in the year you took the distribution.  They would have appeared on line 4 of the Form 1099-R and you would have reported them in the tax year when you took the distribution. There would be no entry for them in later years.

Where would it be?  I don't see it on form 8915-E.

As stated it would be on the 2020 Form 1099-R specifically in box 4.  The federal income taxes withheld on the 1099-R were entered on the 2020 federal tax return as a tax payment included on Line 25b of Form 1040.

The Form 8915-E would not show the federal taxes as a tax payment.
