Hi,
So I have read all the information on Non-Resident Aliens being/should be exempted from the Medicare and Social Security tax withholding and I provided that information to my employer. They did not accept that and told me to bring a letter from IRS, stating that I am personally exempted from these taxes, which is absolutely not possible (I mean why would they give a letter for a nonresident alien?!)
Anyways, the employer said if not so, then I will have to file it at the end of the year and I read about the process online. My QUESTION is if there is any other way, like contacting USCIS or the SSA regarding this and if they can provide a document to IRS or me for exemption from Medicare /Social Security?
Please help, as I do not wish to wait for the tax year as I need the funds right now and cannot afford to pay monthly.
Thanks!
