My wife and I had to withdraw all of our ROTH IRA contributions because our MAGI exceeded the limit.
- From what I could find online, Intuit says I need to report the income this year when I file my taxes (it's about $3000 in earnings). The site said I should get a 1099-R.
- My retirement services provider told my wife that we do NOT need a 1099-R to file our taxes, but that we will get one next year, and we will deal with it then.
- Then I read the forums here, and other customers were told they can file the year's return without it, wait for the 1099-R that would be sent next year, and file an amended return.
What is the correct answer?
Thank you,
