Unfortunately, i am late for filing my taxes for 2020. I am stuck at 1099B ESPP questions.
I use fidelity and they provide consolidated report. I am entering Adjusted cost basis from their supplement information but i am unable to find anything for " Amount of compensation income for this sale".
The help says to fill it from W2 box 1 but it doesnt make sense. This particular entry of sale is for subset of ESPP stocks i sold. Can i get some help?

Are you trying to do 2020 return online?
I ask because only 2021 software is available now online. You’d have to download 2020 desktop edition to complete 2020 return. Just wanted to give you a “heads up” in case you are.
Yes. The information below explains the amounts that would show up in your W2.
An ESPP allows employee to purchase their employer's stock, usually at a discount. Holding the shares more than one year after the purchase date and two years after the grant date results in being taxed at the long term capital gain rate for the appreciation. The amount of the discount is added to the W-2 by the employer and taxed at the ordinary rate. For this reason the discounted amount would be added to the cost basis to eliminate double taxation on the discounted amount. You should be able to see this amount on your W2 or Form 3922.
I dont have form 3922. I used option in Turbotax on I will fill cost adjusted basis manually.
I have consolidated tax form from Fidelity. It has cost adjusted basis but nothing about
" Amount of compensation income for this sale".
I dont remember this being an issue in Turbo tax 2019
The employer may or may not have included the discount in your W-2 wages. The following link will show you a few examples about the discount and whether you need to add the discount to your income and your cost basis. Find the example that best describes your situation.
