Error

I am working on my sons taxes and got the error the submission is a duplicate of one that was previously submitted. A federal return that matches the state return could not be found. 

He has not filed- how do we resolve this?

Did you already file and claim him as a dependent?  Is he filing claiming himself?  Check his return if the box is checked that someone else can claim him under My Info.  Or if he doesn't qualify as your dependent this year check your return if you claimed him.

assuming your information (name, birthdate, SSN) are all correct.

You'll have to file his tax return on paper via US Mail.
