I have used ProSeries in the past, and always received a "submission ID" number when a client's return was accepted. These proved useful when dealing with IRS and the state. Using Turbo Tax basic this year, and all I got was a screen saying something like "Congratulations your return was accepted!" Is there a submission ID hidden somewhere in the files that I can capture?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
The ProSeries offers a submission ID but you do not get that in the personal software of TurboTax. Your return will only show Accepted or Rejected in the personal software.
You cannot use TurboTax personal software to prepare returns for clients. You must use the ProSeries if you plan on preparing returns for a charge.
Yes, I closed my practice and am only using TT for my own personal returns.
So there is no ID to help locate the form if I need to communicate with IRS or the state? That's disappointing. They were really helpful in the past, working with client returns.
Since the personal software of TurboTax is a self-prepared software you would not have a ID submission. You would have your electronic filing worksheet that lets you know that your return was filed and accepted by the IRS. The IRS on personal software only states whether your return is accepted or rejected.
If you are using the Desktop program you can get the filing status. You could print that out. And you should do that to update your return with the status. Open your return and go up to menu item
File > Electronic Filing > Check Electronic Filing Status
There is also the Electronic Postmark. Switch to Forms mode (or look though your pdf)
