I need to refile my NY return because it got rejected. TurboTax seems to offer no way to do this after the deadline, yet NY requires e-filing.
What do I do?

Did you e-file your federal return successfully? A state return cannot be e-filed unless the IRS accepted your federal e-file. If you filed federal by mail, you have to mail NY.
HOW CAN I E-FILE STATE AFTER ALREADY E-FILING FEDERAL
New York prefers e-filed returns, but there are certain circumstances that make it necessary for you to file your NY return by mail and the state DOES allow mailed returns. If you could not or did not e-file your federal return then your NY return cannot be e-filed. It has to be mailed. It is not possible to e-file any state return if the federal return was not e-filed and accepted by the IRS.

New York requires e-filing IF your software allows it. If TurboTax does not allow you to e-file, you can file your NY tax return by mail.
Thank you.
I finally figured that out and mailed the NY return. The real problem I had was that TutrboTax did an extremely poor job of explaining these rules after my federal was rejected.
The rejection was because last year's AGI, which I think TurboTax puts in, was wrong. Is this a bug, or did I do something wrong?
