I have a very simple tax situation - grad student, nonresident with one W2 under the standard deduction level, no foreign income, and no other schedules, forms, or credits/deductions. I can efile my federal tax but for Wisconsin it says "E-File is not available because your tax return includes a tax situation that can't be e-filed." Instead it says I can do a paper check or credit karma - I don't want the latter as it is my last filing in the US and I'd rather not have a check mailed internationally. Again, there are no additional forms or schedules on either return, I'm just reporting the one W2 and getting a full refund, and I have done this using direct deposit without issue in previous years as a nonresident efiler. I checked the Wisconsin website and while they have discontinued the state-run nonresident efile option as of this tax year the DoR says that "If you wish to file Form 1NPR electronically, you must use a tax professional or third-party software" (1NPR being the part-time/nonresident form), which in theory means Turbo Tax should still work. Possibly something needs updating in the software to enable efile? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well I was able to efile both state and federal taxes using another software, OLT. Turbo Tax definitely need to update their software for Wisconsin. OLT also does filing for people with foreign addresses, in case anyone else needs to file WI taxes from abroad.
