Question

Efile limit

I purchased the Premier tax software download and e-filed 4 returns without any problems. I e-filed the 5th return and it was rejected. I fixed the errors the TT was telling me and e-filed again, and it was rejected again. I am now getting the message that my e-file limit of 5 has been hit and I cannot e-file any more returns.
Can I purchase another software download to e-file a new return?

Yes, you can do that. Please keep in mind while the users can prepare as many returns as they would like to print, IRS regulations require us to limit e-file to 5 per computer/license.

You would have to buy another TurboTax product, with a different email address, to file five (5) additional income tax returns. However, you could file as many paper returns as you like and mail them in.

Our license agreement doesn't allow the use of TurboTax for commercial or professional tax preparation. If you need to e-file multiple returns and you are a professional tax preparer, take a look at our ProSeries or Lacerte software.

Thank you. Why do many other threads say there is an IRS e-file limit of 5 returns? Does that not apply for tax year 2020?
