Efile 1099's using TurboTax Home & Business?
Yes, you can use TurboTax Home & Business to prepare and e-file forms 1099-MISC.
To prepare forms 1099-MISC in TurboTax Home & Business, save your open return and start a new return.
- Click on Start a New return
- On the next page, click on the radio button next to Prepare W-2s and 1099s
- On the same page, you will then be given a choice between preparing your forms Online or using your desktop.
- We recommend doing it online as you can e-file for free. You can still print the forms to send to your employees or contractors.
- Click Choose Online and you will be taken to the TurboTax Quick Employer Forms (QEF) website.
- Sign in with your TurboTax username and password. If you do not have an account, click Create Account to create a new account. Note carefully the username and password as you need then if you need to retrieve the forms later.
- After signing in, click on Create New Form
- On the next page, choose the type of forms you wish to prepare then click Continue to begin entering information for your forms.

Efile 1099's using TurboTax Home & Business?
Purchased Home and Business Desktop, when I click to enter online nothing happens. Been on the phone with support for hours and had the same issue last year. Logged into Quick Employer Forms but it kept asking me to purchase Business. Purchased Business and it still would not work. Today is the last day to file and Customer Support, while awesome, was unable to figure out why Quick Employer Forms keeps requiring a purchase after being emailed and purchased.

Efile 1099's using TurboTax Home & Business?
There was no online or desktop option. It is not allowing any option to e-file 1099 forms for subcontractors. Any ideas on how to be able to accomplish that? Thanks in advance.

To prepare the 1099 forms for subcontractors on TurboTax online self employment:

Easy way to find QEF -- go to this website:
- quickemployerforms.intuit.com
- You will need to sign in (using an existing password) or create an account. After you purchase TTax Home & Business 2020, you get "free" eFiling of forms 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC, W-2.
Those of us who do just one or two TTax returns each year will appreciate not having to search "the community" in order to figure out (or in my case, re-discover) how to do things that ought to be intuitive and/or visible in helpful menus.
Access to QEF and the ability to eFile 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC & W2 forms really is "online only."
- Hopefully TTax software developers will reduce future confusion by adding hints or revising menus within TTax Home & Business to clarify where & how eFiling of 1099-NEC/W2 does and does not work.

Efile 1099's using TurboTax Home & Business?
TurboTax Home and Business will provide a link to Quick Employer Forms if you indicate that you pay employees or if you enter expenses for contract labor. Quick Employer Forms helps small business owners like yourself quickly and easily create W-2, 1099-MISC, 1099-INT, and 1099-DIV forms. It asks you easy questions, and then completes the forms for you automatically. It even e-files the forms for you.
For unlimited access to Quick Employer Forms, which you can e-file at no additional cost, you'll need to use one of the following TurboTax products:
- TurboTax Online: TurboTax Self-Employed or TurboTax Live Self-Employed
- TurboTax CD/Download: TurboTax Business or TurboTax Home & Business
- Quick Employer Forms supports e-filing to the Social Security Administration and Internal Revenue Service only. It doesn't support filing any state employer forms, nor does it support printed and mailed forms.
- If you need to file 100 or more forms, we recommend our 1099 E-File Service, designed to accommodate larger businesses.
- If you use our Lacerte and ProSeries software, contact your sales representative for information on Quick Employer Forms.

Efile 1099's using TurboTax Home & Business?
Had the same problem today, but if you access the online solution in the link on your turbotax software, it bypasses the screen asking you to buy it again. Good luck.
