Turbotax is not allowing me to enter $500 for 2 teachers for unreimbursed eductator expense deduction.
It limits it to $250. I can only enter for 1 teacher, which limits the deduction to $250. Program is preventing this for some reason
They should be able to ddeduct $500

are you using the online or the desktop version? I just tested the desktop version and it accepts $500.
are you listing the $250 separately for each adult on a joint return? If you post the $500 against one adult TT will only accept $250.
Each taxpayer who is an "educator" is entitled to the "above-the-line" deduction for "up to $250" each for Educator expenses. You would need to enter them separately...one for each taxpayer, not a total of $500 for one taxpayer.

IRS Topic 458 Educator Expenses
Yes, if they are both Educators, then they should be able to deduct a total of $500 on the return, each to be deducting only $250 each.
