My mistake. I had opened my 2019 file by mistake. All is well.

If you are completing a 2019 or earlier tax return using the TurboTax software, e-filing closes in October of each tax year.  The prior year tax return can only be printed and mailed.

I got the message when filing a 2020 return.

When I checked status, it said return was accepted.

    Which is real?

If you e-filed and the status is Accepted then the IRS has received the federal tax return.

If you are using the TurboTax software for tax year 2020 there should not be a message indicating e-filing is closed.

Verify that your software is at the latest release.  Click on Online at the top of the desktop program screen.  Click on Check for Updates.

For the status of an e-filed 2020 tax return - Click on the File menu at the top left and then on Electronic Filing
