when you efile, turbo tax (feds) requires a driver license and exp date.  What happens when you no longer drive because of age or other issues and no longer have a driver license?

You are not required by the IRS to enter a drivers license to file a federal return.   So if you are only trying to e-file a federal return just click past that page if you want to.   But some states are pretty fussy about state identification in order to let you e-file a state return.   Even if you no longer  drive it is usually possible to get a state issued identification card through your state.   Or just print and mail your state return to avoid the hassle of the ID.

In many (perhaps most) states, seniors and others that do not have a driver's license, can apply for and receive a State ID card that has an ID number on it. That can be used in place of a driver's license number.
