e file federal

I did my efile on my federal and my plan was to now efile my state. Turbo Tax desktop edition now is requiring me to select BOTH federal and state. If I only chose state efile i get a message that federal needs to be filed first and it already has been filed and the IRS has already accepted that return.

The TurboTax program needs to know the federal return has been accepted.  It should show you the status when you click on the File menu at the top left of the desktop program screen and then on Electronic Filing and then Check Electronic Filing Status

 

If the status shows as Accepted then when you are in the File a tax return section of the program select E-file and on the following screen for Federal select Do not file

when i check the status of federal it's validated and says it's been accepted.  It still will not allow me to de select federal and just file state i keep getting the same message that i need to file federal first.

@werre300 If the Electronic Filing Status shows as Accepted then you should not have this problem.

 

Save your tax return and then close the TurboTax program.  

Start the TurboTax program again and see if you still have a problem.

I have tried that several times still does not let me continue.

You are the first that I have seen to report this type of problem using the 2024 desktop editions.

 

You can report the problem to TurboTax support and see if they have any further information on this type of issue.
