E-2 Visa and Health Care exemption.

Hello, I moved in the US in late 2016 from France with a E2-visa and could apply to Health insurance for 2017 as it was too late and didn`t have a SSN.

(But i did apply in 2017 for 2018)

I live in the us the whole 2017.

Would i be able to qualify for Health Insurance Exemption on my 2017 Tax Return?

Thank you in advance,

Julien

E-2 Visa and Health Care exemption.

Unfortunately, unless you are on an exempt visa (like F-1 or J-1) or you are unlawfully in the US, you need to meet the ACA health insurance requirements or pay the penalty for not having insurance unless you meet an exemption.

You can check out the listed of exemptions and see if you qualify (maybe for a short gap exemption or have income below the threshold requirement to have insurance).
