Will I be getting a credit / deduction for the AMT that I paid last year?

Last year I paid AMT and this year, I do not have to pay AMT. Does that mean I am eligible for the AMT credit on the amount I paid last year?

Are there any other criteria I have to be aware of?

Due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) signed into law by President Trump, the number of taxpayers subject to the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) should drop significantly in 2018 – over 95% according to some experts – due to higher exemptions and phase-out thresholds.

Thanks for the comment. Just to confirm, if I did not have any ISO or depreciation last year, I cannot claim form 8801 this year no matter how much AMT I had to pay last year?

Did you have depreciation? If you were hit with AMT in 2017 due to high income, lots of dependents, large state, local, property taxes, you don't qualify for the credit.
