Downloaded software

Hi there, i just ordered the software to do my 2019 tax return and cant use it on my phone.  I have used turbotax from my phone before this and dont have a desktop.  What should i do?

Can you borrow a desktop PC (or Mac) from a relative or friend?

Otherwise, you need to install the 2019 software on a desktop computer.

You can get a refund for the Desktop program.  If you can't use the Desktop program you need to go to a local tax place or fill out the forms by hand for free.

You can go here TurboTax CD/Download Refund Request Form to request a refund if still within 60 days of purchase. 

2)  seek a local paid tax pro

Don’t forget your state.  And you will have to print and mail your returns.  So be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

If you used TurboTax on your phone before, you used the TurboTax Mobile App, which is based on TurboTax Online, not the downloaded software. TurboTax Online for 2020 will be available in early December. You should be able to use it on your phone at that time.
