Download for wrong product?

I downloaded what should be home and business version but when I go to install it, it appears to be the individual version and not home and business install. How can I know for sure? How do I resolve? I paid for home and business.

Did you purchase the download from turbotax.intuit.com?

What is the file name of the file that you downloaded? If it's Home & Business purchased from turbotax.intuit.com, the first part of the file name should be w_turbotax_1040_hab_2020. The "hab" means Home & Business.

Home & Business  IS a personal version that handles the 1040  ... did you mean to buy the BUSINESS version which handles Partnerships, Trusts and Corporations ?

Download for wrong product?

I did purchase from turbotax and downloaded the file they had on my account, just like every other year. The filename, however, is windows_per_turbotax, and when I go to install instead of installing to TurboTax\Home & Business <year> like every other year, it wants to install in something like TurboTax\Individual.

Multiple reasons I don't think the correct download was made available to me in my account.

I saw the same thing.  I ordered Home and Business and expected the download filename to be consistent with previous years.  In 2019 and 2020 they followed this format - "w_turbotax_1040_hab_[phone number removed].exe" which included the OS (w_), the product (tubotax1040), the VERSION (hab - for Home and Business), the YEAR and Revisions ([phone number removed]).

This year, there appears to be a different (AND undocumented) filename scheme., ie: "windows_per_turbotax".  The "per" would infer a "personal" version without the business forms.  In fact, it installs into a sub-directory named "Individual 2021" unlike the previous year's sub-directory titled "Home & Business 2020".

It would have been nice if TT had simply included a note on the Downloads page telling us....  "By the way, your download will have a different name, and will actually install itself in a directory with the name of the lower version, "Individual 2021".  BUT... don't worry.  We are using the License Code (or other server-based procedure) to branch the different versions inside the application's one "per" file into either Personal (Individual) or Home and Business, depending on which License you purchased".

Many Thanks to Terrill in Support for his help in sorting this out.

In the previous post, TT's software didn't recognize it's own Year and Revision numbers ( " _YYYY.xxx.xxxx").  Instead TT replaced them with the text "[phone number removed]" just to make the post easier to read.

@ODTAA TurboTax Home & Business is considered a personal version, because it prepares Form 1040 returns. The only version that's not personal is TurboTax Business, which does not do Form 1040 returns.

All the personal versions of the CD/Download TurboTax software include all the forms, including Schedule C for business income. The only difference between versions is the amount of detail and help in the Step-by-Step interview.
