Purchased new computer and tried to download my turbo tax cd/desktop version but it is telling me I have exceeded my download limit. I have not used all 5 downloads; I am sure but there is NO ONE at TurboTax that will assist me. I contacted support at [phone number removed] and was told they would have to charge me to speak to me and when I questioned it, they hung up on me. I was disconnected 3 separate times with no assistance provided. This is very poor customer service; I have been a user for over 10 years, and I am very unhappy with their responses.
I saw others in the community have had similar issue with the 2019 version which is one of the years I am trying to reinstall so seems the license issue may be more than just me with this problem.
Is there a way I can copy the program from the old computer (which worked fine) to the new computer? I thought about cloning or mirroring the drive of the old computer, but I don't really want to install everything that is on the old computer and seems most cloning options do all or nothing. Is it possible to get someone from TT to provide an access link for me to do a one-time download with my already purchased CD? I pay $90 a year to buy their desktop download, I should be able to confirm my purchase and get some help from them but seems they are NOT available to help with these type issues.
Thanks

I am not a TurboTax employee. I'm "just another user" the same as you.
As I've always understood things, when it comes to the CD version of the program you are authorized to install it on a maximum of 5 computers that you own. Likewise, it can only be downloaded 5 times. The activation code also, will only work a maximum of 5 times.
If you have not used the activation code 5 times, then you should be able to copy the installation file from the downloads directory of the old computer to a USB drive, and transfer the installation file to the new computer that way. DO NOT try to install it directly from the USB drive. It will not work. Copy the installation program from the USB drive to the downloads folder of the new computer. Then remove the USB drive and install it from the downloads folder.
Note that if the license activation code has already been used 5 times, then this will not work. You will have to purchase the program again unfortunately, or feel free to go elsewhere.

Try again. Perhaps you will get a different agent. 1-800-446-8848
