By providing this service, filing ones tax information in advance would expedite a return. Also, having insight as to what's to follow on the return would reduce mistakes?

No.  There is a  online program called It's Deductible but that is only for tracking Donations.  You can use a personal finance program like Quicken to enter into during the year which will import to Turbo Tax.  You should always have a print out of the prior year's return to follow to enter your info so you don't miss anything.
