Does the user id and email have to be the same?
Thank you my question was answered, however a bit more detail from me.
This would apply to an existing account that was set up by my employer that has direct deposit and the "View My Paycheck". I have also used this same account to file my taxes through the Turbo Tax free edition. My user ID and email is currently my work email address. What I would like to do without loosing this Intuit account is change my user ID to something other than an email address and also change my work email address to another one I use more frequently. I did change the email address (though I changed it back) because when I did that the account settings page wanted me to update the user ID because it did not match the email address. At this point the user ID was in grey and I did not figure out how to change it. It seems to me according to that page they must match?
So basically, If I am able to change both the user ID and email address, would it still recognize me as the same Intuit account user maintaining all it's functionally and history?
Thank you,
Mike B.

No, they don't have to be the same.
TurboTax recommends that you
don't use any personal information in your user id
or
reusing an id from other sites.

@MEBEANDREAandBLUE2 Not sure why you posted to this thread that is not related at all to your question.
TurboTax cannot help with verifying your identity with the IRS. This is between you and the IRS. Sometimes the IRS chooses a return randomly to request identity verification and sometimes there is something in your return that causes them to make the request.
I HAVE TO VERIFY MY IDENTITY
