Does Deluxe online for 2020 include a free e-file for one state return?

No it does not. That is true for some versions of the CD/download but not for online. When you use online Deluxe there is a fee for the state return. The fee is not for e-filing--it is for using the software.

The state program is an additional charge of $40 when using the Deluxe online edition or higher.

There are no e-file charges when using the TurboTax online editions, federal or state. The TurboTax online account fees are for the use of the software to assist in completing a tax return. The account fees are the same whether the tax return is e-filed or printed.
