Question

Does a Federal Extension Automatically "Trigger" a State Extension?

On both my 2025 Federal and State (Georgia) returns, I'm due refunds.  I plan to file a Federal extension.  Will filing the Federal extension automatically "trigger" a Georgia extension, or must I also file a Georgia extension?  I want both Federal and Georgia to be extended.  Please advise.  Many thanks!

Georgia provides an automatic 6-month extension to file individual income tax returns if you have an approved federal extension (Form 4868), with no separate state form required.  Extensions only apply to filing, not payment; tax payments are still due by the original deadline to avoid interest

You're using TurboTax Business, which is for partnerships, trusts, and corporations, not indivduals.  Partnership and corporation federal extensions were due 3/15, trusts 4/15

so you can no longer file a valid extension other than for a trust. It won't matter if you are due a refund.

a valid federal extension extends the Georgia return
