Do we have to file BEFORE April 15th or is it ok to file ON April 15th?

we Have info that we need which will be available ON April 15th.

Ok I read something on intuit saying we have til midnight April 15th. If something gets messy filing ON April 15th, is it too late to file for an extension?  All sources say “before April 15th.”

The filing deadline is midnight of Apr 15th. So if you e-file at 12:01AM on Apr 16th, you're one minute late.

What if you file before the deadline but it's still pending by the deadline?

You can e-file your return or you can postmark your return on April 15th.
