There's really no such thing as "W-9 earnings."  The W-9 is provided by a payer for purposes of obtaining your Social Security number and mailing address and to see if amounts paid to you are subject to backup withholding.

I expect you are referring to "self-employment" income, income that may be (or may not be) reported to you on a 1099-MISC.  If that's correct then the answer to your question is "Yes", it does need to be reported.  You can't do that with the Free Edition however as it doesn't support Schedule C which is where self-employment income is recorded.
