Do I need to report a 1099 G/INT from a state refund as income if I took the standard deduction for the same year I paid the tax?

If you received the form, you should enter it because it is also being furnished to the IRS. TurboTax will determine if its taxable or not. It won't be taxable if you took the standard deduction last year.

To enter in TurboTax:

  • Select Federal Taxes
  • Wages & Income
  • Scroll down to Other Common Income
  • Select Refunds Received for State/Local Tax Returns
