The schedules for your PA-40 can be electronically filed. Whether you file electronically or mail, the Gross compensation worksheet is not a required schedule to submit with the return. A mailed return is unnecessary if however, if you do choose to mail, and in PA's case it usually does not matter as refunds are generally small and most have to pay a certain amount, the following link below should be of assistance.

I have the same question. I'm planning to mail a paper return to Pennsylvania but when I printed the return it included the Gross Compensation Worksheet. There is a note in the heading that states "Keep for your records" so it's not clear if it needs to be included with the return. I don't recall seeing this worksheet when I printed last year's PA return, nor couldn't find it referenced anywhere in the PA-40 instructions. Is it intended to substitute for paper copies of the W-2 that are normally required to be included with a paper return?
No, you do not need to mail the Gross Compensation Worksheet with your return. That is for your records and to be used as a checklist to make sure that you correctly entered all of your income.
