If you got a message saying your PA return was accepted, you shouldn't have to mail anything. If you owed, you can pay on line. https://www.revenue.pa.gov/OnlineServices/MakeAPayment/Pages/default.aspx
If PA DOR wants more info, they'll write to you.
"For Forms 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, and 1099-R, you are only required to submit actual copies of these forms if there is PA tax withholding reported on the forms."
I have this situation (PA taxes withheld via 1099-R). How do I subit the required documents? I.e, where do I send them, how do I prepare the statement that PA requires for this?
From the PA-40 instructions: "Federal Forms, W-2, 1099-R, 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC. Photocopies of your Form(s) W-2 (be sure the information is legible), or your actual Form(s) W-2. Include a statement to list and total your other taxable compensation. You must submit photocopies of your Form(s) 1099-R, 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC and other statements that show other compensation and any PA tax withheld."
I'm frustrated that this is required, but TurboTax did not provide any help or instructions for this. For my situation, this was required in 2022 but I did not know about it and I did not send these documents in, and got a request for information later in the year to do so. Now I'm filing for 2023, but still no instructions from TurboTax on how to do it.
It depends. If you are using e-file for your tax return, then do not mail these documents right now. Pennsylvania (PA) has instruction as though you are sending a paper return and mailing it. The IRS also requires specific documents when you mail a paper tax return (W-2, 1099-R and any document with federal withholding). It is not required with a return send through e-file.
Keep the forms with your tax file should they actually request a copy of any or all. It's not common, however if you do get a letter that will be the time to send them.
