Dad died in 2018, no living spouse, no IRAs, His income was from pensions and SSA, He had cash assets, (stocks and mutual funds with noted beneficiaries) and life insurance. We sold his home at a small loss and under $250,000. Cash assets (including home sale) were distributed before 2019. I filled in a 1040 because he had 1099Rs from 2 insurance companies and pensions. He had the home in a simple trust, some accounts went to estate if not distributed to beneficiaries directly. Beneficiaries are all US citizens. Do I need to fill out a 1041?

I would suggest going to this IRS web site, as I am dealing with the same thing.
