our 17 year old has a job and is in high school, we claim him as a dependent, do we enter his w-2 on our taxes? he earned 3400 no federal taxes were taken out, ss was and state was ?

No. You do not enter your dependent's income on your return. He is not required to file a Federal return as his income is too low. You will need to check with your state's Dept of Revenue to see if he has to file a state return.
