Once your son e-filed his tax return, you can't stop it unless it is rejected.  Wait, and if it'srejected, you can make changes.

Your son can file his taxes even if you claim his as a dependent so he can get a refund of withholding, but he needs to indicate that he can be claimed on someone else's tax return.  Do you know if he did?

‌Refer to the TurboTax article: How do I indicate that I can be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return?

If you son's return gets accepted, you can still file your tax return, filing as Head of Household and claiming him as a dependent. Once you try to e-file and it gets rejected, you will have to print and mail your tax return.

Your son can amend his taxes, once his tax return is fully processed and he receives his refund.
