why won't turbo tax let me pick state and local tax deduction instead of estimated sales tax?

If you want to use the state and local tax deduction over the sales tax deduction, 

1. Log in to your account. 
2. Go to Federal Taxes.
3. Go to Deductions and Credits.
4. Scroll down to Estimated and other taxes paid and click show more.
5. Select Sales Tax.
6. On the screen Let's compare Your Sales Tax and Income Tax select the State and Local Tax Deduction.
