Decadents Responsability

Mother passed in August of 2020. We just received a adjusted tax bill for 2017 from New York State. Is her estate responsible to pay the bill?

Yep, the estate is responsible for paying but you have to realize that these folks can reach back to estate assets if they were distributed before all debts were paid including taxes

does anyone have the ability to check the validity of the state claim. The IRS screws up and so do states.
