Data Security (TurboTax Website vs. TurboTax desktop Software)

Just a curious question: if there is data breach incident, will it only affect TurboTax website customers? Technically, TurboTax desktop software users' data is not stored in TurboTax database when going through e-filing process, correct?

This is a general question related to website filing and software filing, not limited to TurboTax company.

Regardless of the product, your return has to be stored somewhere when using TurboTax and e-filing since Intuit is the ERO. 

I suppose if you don't want any exposure, you might want to print and mail your return using the desktop software.
