Credit Limit worksheet

In reviewing my forms (via print to PDF), I printed all forms, I found on form 8812 if references "Credit Limit Worksheet" a number of times.  On line 14c it instructs you to put the amount from Credit Limit Worksheet A.  I am trying to find that work sheet.  I have gone through the printing to try and select certain forms, it is not listed.  I have printed all forms and walked through the whole report and it is not there.  I have gone through tools options, view forms, etc. and find no evidence of where this amount came from.  I have searched help files and google and have not come up with a good answer.  Any help would be appreciated.

Credit Limit worksheet

I believe you are referring to the Credit Limit Worksheet in the instructions to form 8812. That worksheet won't appear in TurboTax, even though the program uses the calculations on it to populate the form. You see a reference to it on the form since that is the way the IRS populates the form. You can prepare the form if you want to check the calculations, it is found here:

Credit Limit worksheet

Thanks that helps.  Maybe it would be a product enhancement to be able to show the completed worksheets that Turbo tax does behind the scenes.  Just in case you wanted to check your figures.

Credit Limit worksheet

What do I put for that answer on question 14 of 8812? would it be the child tax credit amount or what? I am so confused

Credit Limit worksheet

If you are using TurboTax, you will not have to make the entries on Form 8812. As @ThomasM125 explained, the worksheet, "Credit Limit Worksheet," does not appear in the TurboTax program.

On form 8812, line 14 states, " Enter the smaller of line 12 or 13. This is your child tax credit and credit for other dependents . . . . . 14 Enter this amount on Form 1040, 1040-SR, or 1040-NR, line 19." You would enter the number which is the smaller of the numbers on line 12 or line 13. This is your child tax credit and credit for other dependents.

Credit Limit worksheet

Finally found the Credit Limit Worksheet A. It is located in the Instructions pamplet for Form 8812, page 4.

Credit Limit worksheet

Indeed it would be better if this worksheet (like other worksheets) was made visible. It's just a little unnerving when carefully checking the entire return, to see a number that I can't explain.

Anyway thanks for pointing out how to find the worksheet in the IRS instructions - - that allows me to close the issue and not worry about it.
