How would I determine how many months my son lived with me if he ends up going to college out of state?

A temporary absence for education is still considered living in the home.  So indicate the whole year where asked how long he resided in the home.

Hi @lbryant23 ,

 

If you are eligible to claim your son as a dependent then any time that your child is away at college qualifies as time lived with you.

You will count that time as the time lived with you.
