Claiming dependants.

My parents live with me. i pay mortgage and groceries, bills, etc. their only income is social security.

 

can I claim them as dependent?

 

if yes, then do they file taxes too?

    Given the information you posted you can claim them as dependents and they don’t have to file a return.

    follow up question.

     

    In turbo tax, it is asking me if my dad or mom had income. do I list the social security amount they received for the year in this section? 

     

    if NO, do I enter the social security that they received for the year anywhere?

    If their only income was social security, answer NO.    And do not enter their social security payments anywhere on your return.
