My mortgage was sold last year. The old mortgage companies 1098 is exactly correct. However, for the new company, the 1098 Mortgage form does not have a checkmark on box 7 saying that my mailing address is different than the address of the property that is mortgaged. The address of the property is included in box 8. However, I think that box 7 should have been checked like it was from the old mortgage company. Can I go ahead and mark it as checked since it should be?

Yes, the mortgage forms go in to a worksheet that does not go to the IRS. Only the Sch A goes to the IRS with the final number for allowable mortgage interest. You can input whatever makes the final answer correct in that section.
