If you buy Deluxe it is dishonest for turbo to charge an additional $25 if ONE STATE IS INCLUDED

With the Desktop version you get One Free State Program (to prepare your returns). To e-file a State return there is a $25 e-file charge. To avoid the charge you can mail in your State return.
It states on the TurboTax website that to E-file a State there is an additional charge.
The following is how it is listed for the TurboTax Desktop software:
Includes 5 federal e-files and 1 State download
State e-file additional

What is the story???
@The first state should be includ what is your question? The state program is free with the Desktop software (Deluxe and above). E-file charge can be avoid by mailing in your state return, or see if you can file your state return for free on your State's website.
E-filing fee in desktop software
Did you purchase desktop software with state software included? They sell Deluxe both with and without state software--so you have to be careful which one you choose. And even if it does have the state software download included, that is for preparing the state. There is an extra fee to e-file the state. Before March 1 that fee is $20; after March 1 it increases to $25. You can avoid the state e-file fee if you print and mail the state instead of e-filing it.
I totally agree. $25 is to much to e-file state. I think it should be included in your fee. You get 1 e-file for federal, I think one free for state should be included. $25 is just too much. If they have to charge something $5 would be more than enough. I guess some of us pay it so it makes it profitable for Intuit.
