Changing filing method for Grantor Trust

We were mistakenly assigned an EIN for a revocable living trust (grantor trust) and filed a TY 2020 Form 1041 return with that EIN. We later realized that we could use an optional filing method that uses one of our SSNs. We would like to change filing methods by filing a Final 1041. However, the instructions for Form 1041 state "On the front of the final Form 1041, the trustee must write 'Pursuant to section 1.671-4(g), this is the final Form 1041 for this grantor trust,' and check the Final return box in item F."

Is there a way to include this statement on the Form 1041? Turbotax does not appear to allow this kind of editing.

Thanks!

You will likely have to print and mail your return after typing (or writing) the requisite header on the form.

Thank you for your response. Is there any particular place on Form 1041 to put that statement? There isn't a lot of room in the body of the form. Can it be placed in the top or bottom margins, or does the IRS prohibit text in those areas?

Thanks!

On the top margin (directly above the form number).
